In this 4-week course, we'll work through the most important chord shapes, picking techniques, and tricks used by our favorite rock and metal artists. We'll also cover songs that use these techniques and how to incorporate them into your own original songs!

The heart of rock n roll! There is no Rock and Metal without Power Chords! We'll cover the building blocks for the power chord shape and how to move it easily across the neck. We'll also walk through variations of the power chord and how this shape can help you master the infamous Barre Chord shape! We will also cover some tips for songwriting and popular songs that use power chords.

What truly brings a song to life are strum patterns! Different rhythms can immediately change the feel of a song. We'll cover the most common strum patterns and some tips for keeping a steady pace. This includes Palm Muting, 8th note Alternate Strumming, and Gallop Strumming!

Lead Guitar and Soloing
Let's kick it up a level! Soloing and lead guitar are the heart of rock and metal. This week, we'll cover proper technique for soloing and the most common scale shapes for the genre. We'll also walk through exciting techniques like hammer ons, pull offs, bends, slides, and pinch harmonics!
