This course is for students that have some experience with Chord Melody (you can have taken my Chord Melody 1 course) or have explored on your own. It is aimed for intermediate- advanced students looking to take their solo playing to the next level. Looking forward to diving in!!

I am a lover of guitar. I have been playing since I was 7 - I grew up playing with my 4 siblings. I studied at USC, where I received my Doctorate in Guitar Performance and now am a professor. I play constantly- touring with artists such as Jason Mraz, Molly Miller Trio, and all over the internet!

What you'll do

Reharmonization

Let's look at ways to change up the harmony and options that you can apply to all songs when playing alone and with others

Soloing

Dang! It is hard to solo alone, but let's look at ways to make it less daunting. There are great tricks and places to start that we will investigate.

Creating Your Own Arrangements

While the internet is filled with great transcriptions, let's find YOUR voice and figure out how to create your own arrangements of tunes.

Who you are
Intermediate- advanced students welcome. Some familiarity with chord melody. You can have taken CM 1 with me or explored on your own. You do not need to be an expert, but this is not a course for beginners.

Exactly what I was looking for. Learning triads and inversions all over the neck, and then working with them in songs and progressions skyrocketed my fret-board knowledge.

I got a ton of useful perspective on playing tunes for solo guitar. Molly Miller will take you through chord voicing options and fingering choices, but more importantly, teach you what to listen for and how to truly prioritize the melody in your arrangements. Great stuff.

Loved the Intro to Jazz class. We learned 4 standards and Molly introduced concepts like arpeggios, enclosures, scales and drop2 chords in a way that's digestible and rooted to the songs we were learning. I did really feel a build during the 6 weeks and I'm excited to continue 🙌
